A QUICK ONE WHILE SHE'S NOT GOING AWAY
Or, Tara Tells the Truth About Not Wasting Time
Hey hey friends, subscribers, and anyone else who might come across my Substack! I’m not going to be around the internets very much this week because my mom is visiting from NYC and we only have until Friday afternoon together, so she’s my rightful priority this week and I want to spend every waking minute with her that I can, which I hope you’ll understand. She’s staying in a fancy-schmancy hotel this time, so maximizing our time together is even more important to me.
Yes, there’s a lot of new Trumpfuckery to get into, especially after embarrassing himself yet again on the global stage with that pathetic speech where he once again confessed to stealing both the 2016 and 2024 elections amid whining about the 2020 election. And all of MAGA should be one collective facepalm after Trump fell asleep on camera again after getting booed again at the World Cup Finals, and then he embarrassed them AGAIN AGAIN when he wouldn’t get the fuck out of Spain’s victory photo, so they had to cut him out of it.
If only we could do that with him and his entire illegitimate regime, SIGH.
At least more people are getting hip to what happened in 2024, which I’ve only been screaming about since it happened, but what do I know about politics?
Anyway, my week is going to be all about my mommy. If you’re lucky enough to have your parents (my stepdad is back in NYC), call them. If you’re lucky enough to live near your parents, GO SEE THEM. I’m still waiting for teleportation and/or that sweet sweet book deal so I can make more trips back East to spend more time with my mom and the rest of my family. It SUCKS having a continent between us, which was a move orchestrated by my controlling ex-husband, who stopped controlling things 21 years ago. I never wanted to leave NYC, where he did his residency, but I wasn’t the money maker and was first forced to move to Georgia, then out here. He put that distance between my family and me on purpose, something I realized far too late into our marriage. But since I’m not a vengeful bitch, I didn’t take our sons away from him when we divorced in 2005, as much as I wanted to raise them near my family, and here we are now. I’ve mostly been watching my nieces grow up on Facebook instead of in person. My sons are in touch with their cousins on Instagram and have never spent enough time around our extended family.
So even if your parents annoy you, or you have a lot going on in your busy life, I’m urging you to make time for them. Sunrise/sunset, for real.
(And also to please buy/share my book, because my mom is really proud of me and wants me to get that sweet sweet publishing deal)
