What a year we all had today, huh? My brain feels like it survived its own version of The Poseidon Adventure.
I mean, Joe Biden usually goes to church on Sundays, but since he’s stuck at home with Covid, he decided to rip my heart out today instead for a little while.
Dark Brandon will now forever be in a tie with Jimmy Carter for the Most Beloved Former One-Term Democratic President. Joe’s record far exceeds Jimmy’s—sadly, not enough people were aware that Joe brought this country out of a pandemic depression and grew our economy back even better. To the point where we lifted all other global economies along with ours.
No one seemed to know about the Biden-Harris administration’s historically successful first term as they cleaned up the giant mess left by the now-convicted felon adjudicated rapist awaiting sentencing in less than two months who also raped children and is somehow again the GOP’s nominee.
Nobody was even all that concerned about a second Biden-Harris term until that debate I never want to hear about ever again. All of a sudden, everybody lost their shit and flung it right at the man who’d served with honor in the Senate for 36 years, as Vice President for 8 years, and President for the last three and a half years.
Honestly, after hearing everyone talk shit for the last month, you kind of can’t blame him for wanting to shut them the fuck up already.
I absolutely lost my shit when I first saw the letter from the President. It still felt like he was giving in to being pushed aside.
I went out for a few hours because I couldn’t sit here and look at everyone freak out. By the time I got home, Kamala Harris was fully endorsed not just by the President, but essentially every prominent Democrat who has influence. By the end of Sunday, donations into ActBlue for the new Kamala Harris For President campaign had hit a record of over $52 million.
FIFTY.TWO.MILLION.DOLLARS.
That’s my kind of “woke math.”
Even better, Republicans know they’re royally fucked now. Because while it seems like they got what they wanted, the reaction from them is not what you’d expect. They’re talking about suing Joe Biden and the Democrats for the move they’ve been wanting for months.
Or have they? Because they are shit scared of Kamala. JD Vance didn’t want to debate her, and if Trump gets on a debate stage with her, she’ll prosecute him live on global TV. He won’t be under oath, but he also won’t be able to get away with lying to Kamala Devi Harris.
The GOP is finding out that when you wag the dog, you shouldn’t be so surprised when it turns around and immediately bites you in the ass.
So, yeah, he probably won’t show up to debate her.
But again, he’s being sentenced in September, right around the same time Judge Tanya Chutkan’s January 6th tribunal will take place over 6-8 weeks. Yes, that means through October, and who knows what we’ll learn?
SURPRISE!
Also, Democrats on Twitter are using all of the MAGA ageist anti-Biden bullshit against moldy old Trump now. He’s an ancient 78! He should take a dementia test live on TV!
You get the drift.
Meanwhile, all of the Black women I’m in DM rooms with and follow on Twitter are READY. They have been ready. This country was built on the backs of Black women and now is the time for a Black woman to lead this country.
Fellow white women who might be reading this: FOLLOW BLACK WOMEN. Then VOTE LIKE BLACK WOMEN because we always win when we follow their lead.
HILLARY CLINTON SAYS YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO ME. She’s always right. ALWAYS. No matter who Kamala picks for her VP! I’d like it to be Pete Buttigieg but it might be Mark Kelly, but we’ll be voting Blue because I don’t want to be “disappeared” by the Heritage Foundation, please.
That meme will live on my phone forever. FOREVER.
Let’s end on some levity because HOLY FUCK, you guys.
First of all, [insert usual plug for my book The Sound Of Settling that I’m too fried to be clever about at this moment].
And then, I’ve been back writing for HillReporter.com for two weeks now YAY PERFECT TIMING and this was a fun thing I wrote about Trump’s stupid MAGA Maxi Pad that has lots of menstruation puns which not enough people have read.
Finally: can anyone get me into the Democratic National Convention next month? I have a free place to stay, I’ll mop the floors to get into that room, I don’t care. I just really want to be there.
Stay strong, friends. We’re still going to win, because we are. And because we HAVE to.
He’s going to be remembered as one of the best Presidents ever
I have mixed feelings. I feel that Joe deserved better, but from a stress and health standpoint, this is better for him. He did his all for country and now can leave the stress behind and be husband, dad, and grandpa. He can take solace in the fact that history will be kind to him, and his accomplishments will be even more lauded as time passes. Many of his predecessors have been elevated in stature as their legacies are re-examined from a longer view. He has my admiration and gratitude. His selflessness is indisputable.
