Did you watch the Sunday June 16 edition of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. He took apart the GOP version of Mein Kampf aka Project 2025 masterfully.
Yesterday was the Silverton Strawberry Festival. There’s a memorial in the park to honor the Civil War dead. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve started a poem “I’m sorry, Mr. Lincoln”. RIP GOP. I wish it didn’t have to end this way for the Grand Old Party.
I shook the hand of Sen. Wayne Morse (OR-D) in 1967, at an 8th grade graduation in my two-room schoolhouse. My dad was an Eisenhower Republican. Dad was beaming shaking Sen. Morse’s hand. Two good men. Politics was politics. Good people were available in both parties.
Sen. Morse had been a Republican. He switched parties in the early 1950’s. I’ll make no judgment about him switching parties. But hello 👋🏻 , it’s weird #woo that he switched parties after he was kicked in the head by a horse. (Gawd, that sounds like an interesting story for a movie.)
